A session musician is perhaps not the ideal candidate for becoming a charcoal burner, but that's exactly what he did.

Kezz Petronelli-Stone turned his back on a rock & roll lifestyle, for a simpler one in the woods practicing the ancient art of "Woodcoliering" - charcoal Burning.

​

Started in 2009 he has built a solid reputation as a true forest artisan. He sources the timber, fells it, extract its, & turns it into charcoal & biochar. He also often turns his hand to other one off pieces for clients, including mantles, tables, bar tops, benches, a village bus shelter.......

 

All from their base "The Smoke House", their self built off-grid straw bale house over looking the North Northumberland coast.

In Northumbria Charcoal Kezz produces high quality lump wood charcoal in traditional ring kilns & a more modern retort. The charcoal is sold locally in shops & garages and as of spring 2025 will also be available online.
